it's good to be the king queen...

ophrah winfrey...im sure some of you have heard of her. well, she's decided that next tuesday she will be shutting down a few blocks on one of chicago's busiest locations...

Oprah plans to tape her show -- with special guests the Black Eyed Peas -- at the intersection of Michigan and Ohio. It will require the city to close Michigan between Wacker and Ohio at 12:01 a.m. Sept. 7 and keep it closed until 5 a.m. Sept. 9th Although Oprah's Harpo Studios will reimburse taxpayers for the cost of city services, the inconvenience to motorists cannot be calculated.

at least the mayor approves. i know, i know...who cares?! f*ck inconvenience to motorists...what about messengers?!?! bike and car! she will definitely make it difficult for messengers throughout the city with deliveries. check out the map...

it's gonna be freaking gridlock from beginning to end. i feel bad for all who have to deal with it but like i said...i guess it's good to be the queen. don't say no one warned you about this when next week comes around...peace.

I wonder how this will affect lower wacker. it would be a quick and easy bypass but im sure since it would be directly under oprah they will have that closed too. seriously, fuck oprah

thats what i was thinking. i would assume that it wouldn't be a big deal cause everyone could travel using lower michigan and wacker but...what about all the trucks and man-power needed to set up a HUGE event. you know they're going to take over the lower part. also...how far east and west will this affect traffic?! you also have to include the amount of security involved. i guess clients will just have to live with not being able to deliver sh*t to those areas...ha! or at least not on time...double-ha!

It's from Midnight to 5am I doubt it's going to affect much.

Haha! Not sure if you're being sarcastic...it starts midnight on the 7th and ends at 5am on the 9th. Do you still doubt it'll affect much?

Looks like Hubbard is also closed, including the Wrigley dock. Looks like anything on Michigan will bill waiting time with all the confusion.
